Shirley Dodd

Shirley Hoover Dodd, 86, of Spartanburg, devoted wife of 64 years to Dr. Louis Josselin Dodd, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born December 31, 1925, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, she was the daughter of the late Orton William and Charlotte Miller Hoover. Mrs. Dodd was a former employee of the American Consulate in Sao Paulo, Brazil and former owner of Golden Goose Antiques in Pendleton, SC. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Gemology Society. In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, David J. Dodd and wife Lisa of Spartanburg, SC, Alan G. Dodd of Santa Rosa, CA, and Mark H. Dodd of Wilmington, NC; niece, Charlotte Armstrong of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Jason C. Jacobs and wife Susan of Spartanburg, SC, LTJG (U. S. Navy) Christopher Dodd of Pearl Harbor, HI, and Emily Dodd of Elon, NC; great-grandchildren, Anna, Corinne, Madison, and Sam Jacobs of Spartanburg; great-niece, Anna Stewart; great-nephew, Mark Stewart; and her loving dog, Casey. She was predeceased by a sister, Paula Rae Armstrong. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, January 9, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. David E. Nichols.
