Shirley Ann Bragg Ballard, 83, of Spartanburg, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Rosecrest Retirement Community. Shirley was born on May 4, 1941, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of the late James F. Bragg, Sr. and Eva Thomas Bragg. She was married to the late Charles Frank Ballard.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Dorothy B. Smyly of Spartanburg; her brother, James Franklin Bragg, Jr. (Cecile Gilmer Bragg) of Boiling Springs; and many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by her adored only child, Jack Charles Ballard.
Shirley was a charter member of Saxon Baptist Church, Spartanburg before they merged with United Baptist Church, Spartanburg. She was a faithful servant and follower of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Baptist Church, PO Box 160402, Boiling Springs, SC 29316 or to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
