Sherman Thomas

Sherman "Swofford" Thomas, 87, of Moore, SC died Monday, March 1, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born in Cowpens, SC on July 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Z. L. Thomas and Edith Faye Swofford Thomas. A U. S. Army Veteran, Mr. Thomas was founder of Thomas and Sons Tuxedos and was a member of River Hills Baptist Church in Moore, SC. He loved his wife, family, grandchildren, and his work. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years Alice Muriel Davis Thomas; son, Derrick Sherman Thomas (Jeanne) of Moore, SC; daughter, Kim Nix (Wallace) of Campobello, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Justin, Kelly and Jacob and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Rachel. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean West and brother, David Thomas. Visitation will be held 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 11:00 AM in the Chapel conducted by The Rev. Kent Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
