Sherman Fowler

Sherman Fowler, 74, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, January 24, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born July 18, 1941, in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late Dorsey Horace and Myrtle Childers Fowler and husband of the late Mary Sue Davis Fowler. Mr. Fowler loved spending time with his grandchildren, joking around, and fishing. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Gaffney and retired from Best Machinery. Survivors include his daughters, Shana McKenzie (Jeff) of Spartanburg, SC, Teresa Dianne Fowler of Boiling Springs, SC, Kathy Shippy (Roger) and Penny Cortez (Alex), all of Spartanburg, SC; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Fowler (Kenneth) of Cowpens, SC and Earline Golicher of Union, SC; brothers, Leroy Fowler (Mary) of Gaffney, SC and Guy Fowler of Cowpens, SC; and a number of special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Helen Fowler; and brothers, LD Fowler and Grady Fowler. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Randy McCraw and the Rev. Norman Philbeck. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Pallbearers are Sherman Fowler, Grady Fowler, Tyler Reese, Darren Willis, Paul Morris, and James Withrow.
