Shelbia James

Shelbia Jean Garner James, 76, of Pacolet, SC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at her home. Born March 8, 1939, in Union County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Heyward Garner and Lucille Vaughan Garner. A graduate of Lockhart High School, she was a homemaker who loved camping and enjoyed life with her family. She was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and worked with the tape ministry for a number of years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Clyde Eckle James, of the home; a daughter, Rogena Lynn "Gena" Emory and son-in-law, Mike Emory, of Spartanburg, SC; two grandchildren, Brandon James of Charlotte, NC and Shelly Lynn Brown and husband, Trey Brown, of Spartanburg, SC; two step-grandchildren, Jonathan Emory and wife, Victoria, and Matthew Emory, all of Spartanburg, SC; a great-granddaughter, Alayna Lynn Brown; two sisters, Doris Carol Burrell of Union, SC and Terri Garner Foster of Buffalo, SC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372, with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Norman Band and the Rev. Daniel Blackwell. Burial will be in Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery, 310 W. Main St., Pacolet, SC 29372. Pallbearers are Ricky White, Andy Breitenbach, William B. "Bill" James, Jr., Gerald Edward "Buddy" Pugh, II, Jonathan Emory, and Trey Brown. Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2000 L Street NW Suite 410, Washington, DC 20036.
