Sheila & Gary Morgan

Sheila Mathis Morgan, 59, passed away November 25, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center-Mary Black Campus. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Edward and Betty Iris Brannon Mathis. Her high school sweetheart and husband of 40 years, James Gary Morgan, 59, passed away December 13, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center-Mary Black Campus. Born August 11, 1962 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of James T. Morgan of Chesnee, SC and Brenda Davis Ivey of Union, SC.

Sheila earned her associate degree at Spartanburg Community College. She loved taking care of her grandbabies, crafting, shopping, and traveling with family to the mountains and beach.

Gary earned his associate degree at Spartanburg Community College. He was a Deacon, choir member and van driver.

They were members of Converse Baptist Church.

Survivors include their sons, Will Morgan (Sommer) of Boiling Springs, SC, Hunter Morgan (Asia) of Boiling Springs, their daughter, Erin Morgan (Josh Goode) of Mayo, SC, six grandchildren, Hadley Morgan, Linus James, Isaac Morgan, Sawyer Morgan, Sebastian James, and Elias Goode. Also surviving are Sheila’s brother, Roger Mathis (Sheila) of Gaffney, SC and her sister, Phyllis Creech (Bill) of Boiling Springs, SC; Gary’s parents, and his sisters, Vickie Morgan of Union, SC, and Vonda Hummel of Maryland.

Visitation will be 12:30 – 1:30 PM Monday, December 20, 2021 at Fairview Baptist Church, 1551 Bryant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the church, conducted by The Rev. Mike Davis and The Rev. Camden Bagwell. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
