Severne "Dick" Easler, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born July 20, 1926, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Charlie Lee Easler and Alberta Tate Easler. A U. S. Army and Air Force veteran, Mr. Easler was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was also a Mason and Postmaster for the U. S. Postal Service. Everyone knew him as an avid fisherman and for his love of Lake Murray. After retirement, he became a Striper Guide and friends fondly remember him for his boat "Big Dummy". Surviving are his four children, Donna Lipscomb (John), David Easler (Laurie), Danny Easler (Ann), and Danette West (Mike); seven grandchildren, Johnny Lipscomb, Farrah Scruggs, Jennifer Dailey, Bo Easler, Lindsey Willard, Savannah Easler, Dalton Easler and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, John, Kenneth, and Billy Easler; and two sisters, Lillian Campbell and Linda Webb. He is also survived by his wife, Betty Barnette Easler. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Hazel Marie Howell Easler; and a sister, Margaret Davis. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 635 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Fred S. Quidley and the Rev. Daryl B. Tolleson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
