Scott Herndon

Scott Herndon, 80, of Moore, SC, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Charlotte Medical Center. Born February 6, 1932, in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late James Alex and Edna Ruth Scott Herndon. A U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Herndon was retired from IBM after 35 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg, SC, and served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Bible Study leader. He was a graduate of Bailey Engineering School in St. Louis, MO. Surviving is his beloved wife, Elizabeth Wood Herndon; daughters, Sandra Elizabeth Grenga and husband Kel of Charlotte, NC, and Sharon Ruth Herndon of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, John Kelly Grenga III, Sarah Elizabeth Grenga King, Angelina Maria Grenga, and Gloria Elizabeth Grenga, all of Charlotte, NC, Carson Cameron Shocklee and Trevor Scott Shocklee of Atlanta, GA; and great-grandson, John Kelly Grenga, IV. A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with grandson, John Kelly Grenga, III and Dr. Steve Cannon officiating. Visitation will be at the graveside.
