Sarah “Josephine” Cheatwood Harris, 87, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, met her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 21, 2022. She was with her daughter and son-in-law, in their home, in Madison AL and died peacefully, surrounded by much love. She was born on November 19, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Rev. Marion C. Cheatwood Sr. and Bela Hughes Cheatwood and the wife of the late Rev Jack D. Harris.
Those who knew Josephine were truly blessed. She was a special person, a sweet soul. She lit up a room and our lives with her smile. A priceless legacy left to us of beauty, kindness, and selflessness. To know her was to love her, and she will be missed deeply.
Survivors include her three children: Michael J. Davis of Boiling Springs, Gerald C. Davis (Sharon) of Boiling Springs, and her daughter Annette D. Daniels (John) of Madison AL; eight grandchildren: Tommy Davis (Alexis), Robby Davis (Andrea), Stuart Davis, Scott Davis (Katherine), Catherine Davis, Jonathan Daniels (Michelle), Sharon Daniels Priestley (Josh), and Joe Davis. Six great grandchildren: Archer, Dempsey, Paisley, Pierce, Maggie, and Callie. Also surviving is her beloved friend of more than eighty years, Mary Alice Wingo of Spartanburg SC, and her nephew Donald Cheatwood (Karen) of Taneytown, MD. She was predeceased by her brother, Marion C. Cheatwood, Jr. her sister Margaret C. Bishop, and her first husband, Dr. Joseph W. Davis.
Visitation will be 12:30 – 1:30 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
