Sarah Cope

Sarah "Sally" Catherine Reese Cope, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at her home. Born October 6, 1938, in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lyons Reese and Minnie Lee Brents Reese and widow of Charles Edward Cope. Mrs. Cope was a member of Central Church of Christ, a longtime Sunday School teacher, and served in The Soup Kitchen. She loved her family, church, gardening, and the beach. Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Cope Addis (Van) of Chesnee, SC, Kelly Cope Crossley and Paige Cope Bodin, both of Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Laine Cope Miller; and son, Charles Thomas "Chip" Cope. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Central Church of Christ Atrium, 2052 N. Church Place, Spartanburg, SC 29303. A service honoring her memory will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by Mr. Ernie Thigpen.
