Sara Robertson

Sara Lucille Trowbridge Robertson, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at home. Born January 15, 1918, in Anderson, SC, she was the widow of Carlisle Manning Robertson and a daughter of the late James Preston and Ardie Patrick Trowbridge. Sara grew up in Anderson, SC, and graduated from Anderson College. During World War II, she was stationed in the Azores while working for the U. S. Army. Most of her life was spent in Spartanburg where she raised her family and was employed for many years by Spartan Food Systems. Sara was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in her Circle and the Shepherd's Center. An active grandmother, her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by children, Thomas Robertson and wife Gayle of Florence, SC, James Robertson and wife Linda of Spartanburg, SC, Judy Tyler and husband Mike of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arden Pennell of Anderson, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lila Jo Robertson. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Laura Palmer. The family will receive friends following the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
