Sara D. Prince, 98, of Spartanburg passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Sara was a loving wife for 60 years to the late Thomas B. Prince. She was the daughter of the late William Shafer Dowis and the late Patricia Bunn Dowis. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Agnes McElrath, Frances Smith, and Martha Bray; two brothers: Jack Dowis and Richard Dowis.
Sara was born in Concord, North Carolina and a 1944 graduate of Spartanburg High School. She later attended Cecil’s Business College. She was retired from Clarkson Brothers as a secretary and was a member of Ben Avon Methodist Church. To meet her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Sara’s memories are her special daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Michael Hill (family); several nieces and nephews; special neighbors: Lynn and Hank Cumbee (family).
The visitation will be held between 10:30 – 11:15 AM on Saturday, March22, 2025 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM follow the visitation. The burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Sara’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Gail and Michael Hill (family), Lynn and Hank Cumbee (family) for their love, devotion, and faithfulness in the care of Sara over the past several years.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for their professional and compassionate care rendered to Sara while under their care.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sara’s memory to Ben Avon Methodist Church, 2360 Avondale Dr, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
