Sandra Jean Fowler Whitener, 70, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday September 3, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Spartanburg, SC on July 1, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Doris Estepp Fowler, and beloved wife of Benjamin Whitener.
Sandra was a graduate of Dorman High School and received a college scholarship she was unable to accept due to her health. Sandra was co-owner of Whitener Heating and Air Conditioning. She was a devout Christian, devoted wife, mother, and “Mema”. She loved her family with all her heart. She was humble, compassionate, an avid prayer warrior, and always had a smile on her face. Sandra taught Sunday school at Duncan Church of God and sang with her husband. Sandra was an instrument that Jesus used to touch the lives of so many. The seeds of faith she planted will continue to grow for many generations. Even in her illness, she radiated God’s never-ending love.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 49 wonderful years, Benjamin Whitener; daughters Andrea Bagwell and Danielle Briley (Britton); granddaughters Madison Bagwell and Bella Bensal; sisters Linda Wyatt (Jeff), Brenda George (Randy), and many nieces and nephews.
