Sandra "Sandy" O'Dell

Sandra, (Sandy) Clifton O’Dell of Pauline passed away on October 10,2023, leaving behind a loving family, dear friends, four-legged treasures and lives made better having known her. Sandy was born in Wichita, KS in 1956, the daughter of Paul Harrelson Clifton and Sylvia Snow Clifton of Arkansas. She called the Spartanburg area home for nearly 55 years. She will be profoundly missed by the love of her life and wonderful husband, Darrel O’Dell; her stepson, Caleb O’Dell and daughter-in-law, Ashley; granddaughter Grace and grandson, Josiah of Jonesville; beloved siblings and their spouses Dave Clifton (Marilyn) of Pauline, and Jeff Clifton (Michele) of Landrum, and sister, Lisa Clifton of Venice, CA; brother and sisters-in-law Kevin and Linda O’Dell of Pauline, Tim and Tammy O’Dell of Cowpens; Melinda and Robert White of Spartanburg; by cherished nieces and nephews Kylee Newkirk (Duncan “D”), Elyse and Alexander Clifton; David, Ryan, Chris, Dan and Sam Clifton, Matthew Jennings; six great nieces and nephews; dearest of friends; Terry Aldrich of Greenville and Rachel Miller of Taylors, SC.  

She was a life-long member of St. James United Methodist Church where she volunteered in many areas including SPIN. Most recently, she attended Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church and loved listening to Pastor Richard Thomas preach. 

Sandy was the touchstone of the family; a constant, deeply caring spirit. She also never met a stray animal that didn’t find a loving home in her house. She loved music, the outdoors, a cozy back porch and sharing her years with Darrell. She also believed in the value and kindness of a thank you note, she had a contagious laugh, and never forgot a birthday. 

The relatives and friends of Sandy and Darrell O’Dell are all invited to attend services at Mount Calvary Presbyterian Church in Roebuck, on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2:00. Visitation will be held at 12:30- 1:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and to the Spartanburg Animal Shelter.
