Sandra Lee Blackford Clark, 83, of Spartanburg, passed away of Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025, at her residence. She was born on March 8, 1942, in Salem, VA, a daughter of the late Herlin Lee and Lela Blanche Puryear Blackford and Eva Irene Lawrence Flowers. She was the widow of Joseph Harvey Clark, II.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn Clark (Ken Domnitz) of Rutherford, NJ.
Sandy received her Registered Nursing degree from Kentucky Baptist Hospital and later received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina. She had a rewarding career as a district school nurse for Spartanburg County School District Four. So many children were fortunate to have interacted with Sandy through the years as she looked after them. After retiring, Sandy served as Congregational Nurse with Woodruff First Baptist Church promoting wellness programs to the congregants.
Sandy also took great comfort and joy in her church activities. She was a longtime member of Woodruff First Baptist Church and of First Baptist North Spartanburg in recent years. She particularly enjoyed Bible Fellowship with her close group of friends.
She treasured her garden and visiting birds, with roses, irises, and hummingbirds being particular favorites. She had an artistic flair and took pleasure in creative activities like painting, letter writing, music, and theater.
Sandy loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed conversations over delicious meals and loved to gather folks at her house.
Sandy cherished her family. She was happily married to Joe for 36 years. Their daughter, LeeAnn brought her much joy. Sandy was a dog lover who adored having four legged furry friends around her from big to small, some cooperative, some not so much.
Sandy was so proud of her daughter LeeAnn and looked on in amazement at how she moved to New York City to pursue a career as an orthodontist. She loved when LeeAnn, Ken, and her grand doggy Louis would come to see her and equally enjoyed visiting them in the Big Apple.
In more recent times, Sandy greatly appreciated the care, support, loves and companionship she received from very special people: Frances, Sheila, Liisa, and Shirley.
Sandy had admirable faith and fortitude throughout her life and will be missed by many.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Sandy’s life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an organization or charity of choice.
