Samuel Petry

Samuel Eugene Petry, 72, of Gaffney, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. He was born May 10, 1948, in Ohley, WV, a son of the late Jess Everette Petry and Utalkie Jarrell Petry. He served in the Vietnam War and retired from the US Marine Corps. He also served in law enforcement in Grottoes, VA and Rockingham County, VA, Sheriff's Department. After retirement, Sam worked as a diesel mechanic. He received an Associate's Degree from Blue Ridge Community College in 1984. Surviving is a son, Samuel Eugene Petry, II. (Veronica) of Gaffney; a daughter, Tammy Petry Lambert of Mexico; and grandchildren, Tripp Petry, Brandon Petry, Sierra Lambert and Isaac Lambert. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
