Sam Fleming

Sam Jones Fleming, 92, of Greenwood, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at Emerald Gardens Assisted Living. Born September 28, 1918, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Asa Jones and Viola Burgess Fleming and husband of the late Virginia Queen Fleming. Sam was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Germany and France. He was retired as a county police officer, after 20 years of service, and a member of Golightly United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Mary F. Siltzer (Richard), and Margaret F. Martin (George), all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Ashley Amaker, Jason Siltzer, and Cole Martin; and great-grandchildren, Lindsay Martin, Taylor Amaker, Maggie Martin, Dallas Martin, Chase Amaker, and Malachi Siltzer. A graveside service, with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team, will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Marvin Crowe and Mr. Jason Siltzer. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
