Sadie Cordelia Lanford Foster, 95, of White Oak Manor-Spartanburg, died Friday, December 16, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born April 27, 1916, in the Poplar Springs Community of Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late W. Smith and Leila Cox Lanford and the widow of Edwin E. Foster. She was a graduate of the Spartanburg High School Class of 1933; was retired from the Westview Elementary School lunch room program with 20 years of service; and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 89 years, where she was a former member of the choir and the Golden Age Club. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie F. Johnson of Greer; three grandchildren, Beth James and husband Scott of Buffalo, Lance Johnson and wife Lauren of Boiling Springs, and Vance Johnson and wife Renee of Mandeville, LA; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline Johnson and Emily Johnson. She was predeceased by a son, James Earl Foster; a sister, Thelma L. Johnson; and a brother, Faber S. Lanford. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Monday, December 19, 2011, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the church, conducted by the Rev. Jason A. Lee, the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth, and Ms. Lynn Floyd. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 350 N. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at the home of her daughter, Bonnie F.
