Ruth Strevel

Ruth Pressley Strevel, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Lexington Extended Care. Born May 3, 1929, in Union, SC, she was the daughter of the late O. V. and Ruth Caldwell Pressley. She was a member of First Baptist Church North Spartanburg. Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Strevel Lipscomb of Newberry, SC and Tracy Michelle Strevel of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Sr. of Pauline, SC, Nikki Smith of San Diego, CA, Michael Dustin Strevel of NYC, NY, Sarah Ruth Strevel, Jessica Michelle Strevel, Daniel B. Strevel, and Ismael Elias Flores, all of Greenville, SC; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Smith, Jr., Halie-Ann Smith, and Kolsen Strevel. She was the former wife of the late Burl E. Strevel, manager, and bass singer of the Blue Ridge Quartet. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, by Rev. Andy Case. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the Mobile Meals Service, P.O.
