Ruth Mobley

Ruth Rhodes Mobley, 94, of Columbia, SC, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at White Oak at North Grove in Spartanburg. Private services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Friday, June 1, 2018 in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg, by The Reverend Joanne Hull. Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Greenwood, SC. Ruth was born July 16, 1923, in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Newton Rhodes and Bertha Smith Rhodes and widow of Hugh Sam Mobley. A lover of literature and animals, she was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Mobley retired from Shakespeare, in Columbia, as an executive assistant after many years of service. Surviving are her nephews, Newt Pressley (Cherie), Sam Pressley (Sandra), and Lytle Pressley; and their children: Warren, Harrison (Leslee), Madeleine (Rob) Grumbles, Page (Velvet), Nevada, and Paloma; and their grandchildren, Norah, Page, and Brentley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Smith and Geri Pressley.
