E. Ruth Milan, 99, of Clinton, SC, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Presbyterian Home of SC-Clinton. Born January 18, 1917, she was a native of Spartanburg, and the daughter of the late Edward Reuben and Harriet "Hattie" Harty Milan and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Milan. Ruth was a graduate of Converse College, taught in Spartanburg County schools and retired from the Federal Highway Administration where she was a civil engineering technician. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. After retirement Ruth dedicated 18 years as a volunteer to the ministry of Congregational Care and Visitation to the Presbyterian Home in Clinton, SC and was a founding partner and active member of the Shepherd's Center and supporter of the Winter Warmth Program of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church and a Chancel choir member. Ruth will truly be missed by her beloved and loving family and friends. Survivors include her Goddaughter, Jean McKenna of Bokeelia, FL; and cousins, Larry Milan, William Blake, and Marco Farnese. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM, at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans. Visitation will follow the memorial service.
