Ruth Hill

Ruth Bishop Hill, 90, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born September 20, 1918, in Greenville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur and Sophie Neill Bishop and the wife of the late James Harry Hill. She was a former Executive Director of the Spartanburg Council on Aging and a member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. Survivors include a step-son, James Kenneth Hill of Greer; a sister, Dovie Roberts of Spartanburg; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Fannie Sue Riddle; and three brothers, James Clarence Bishop, Alvin H. Bishop, and W. A. Bishop, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bill Adams. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the committal service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, WMU, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
