Ruth Gunder

Ruth Davis Gunder, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, transferred to Heaven on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Valley Falls Terrace. Born January 13, 1927, in Converse, SC, she was the second daughter of the late Roy Lee Davis and Della Quinn Davis. She was married to Ernest Eugene "Ernie" Gunder on February 7, 1948 and they were married for 56 years. Ernie preceded her to Heaven on January 29, 2004. Ruth loved Jesus (Ernie loved Jesus too!), her family, her extended and spiritual family unconditionally. She looked forward to spending eternity in Heaven with them all. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church and was a retired private duty nurse. Surviving is her sister, Ann Davis Jackson and her husband the Rev. Dr. Jerry D. Jackson of Spartanburg, SC; and spiritual daughter, Brenda Carigan of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Leah D. Mayo and Faye D. Lowe. A cryptside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Reverend Jan King and the Reverends Don and Iris Valley. Visitation will be at the cryptside.
