Ruth Gibson

Ruth Elizabeth Crossley Gibson, 94, of Glendale, SC, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 17, 1920, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Minnie Lou Mabry Crossley, and widow of Roy Henry Gibson, Sr. Mrs. Gibson was a member of Glendale Baptist Church. She retired from Mayfair Mill and was formerly employed with Glendale Mill for many years. Survivors include her son, Roy Henry Gibson, Jr. (Brenda) of Campobello; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Gibson of Glendale; three additional sisters-in-law; and a large number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Bertie Mae Blackwell, Nellie Bagwell, and Mary Crossley; and a brother, J. B. Crossley. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Daniel Blackwell. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Clifton Glendale Rd., Glendale, SC 29346.
