Ruth Crawford

Ruth Johnson Crawford, 93, formerly of Pacolet Mills, died Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Oakmont Nursing Center in Greenville, SC. Born October 11, 1915, in Union County, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Washington and Cora Walden Johnson and the wife of the late Landy Jackson Crawford. She was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, a former member of Pacolet Mills Elementary School PTA, a former Cub Scout Den Mother, and an active poll worker. Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Camden Wade of Greenville; a son, Landis Crawford of Saxon; a special daughter-in-law, Joyce Crawford of Inman; a foster daughter, Ruby Cook of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Landy Crawford, Jr., Timothy Crawford, and Mitchell Crawford; and a daughter, Ann Crawford. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at White Rose Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Norman L. Band. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, P. O. Box 660, Pacolet Mills, SC 29373.
