Ruth Cleveland

Ruth Helen Ballenger Cleveland, 82, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Summit Hills Assisted Living. Born September 17, 1928, in Inman, she was the daughter of the late Joe W., Sr. and Bessie Tallant Ballenger. Mrs. Cleveland was a member of Drayton Baptist Church and retired from Spartanburg County School District 7. Survivors include her husband, Homer Melvin Cleveland; two sons, Donald "Don" M. Cleveland and his wife Patty of Anderson, and Darryl W. Cleveland and his wife Sarah of Moore; four grandchildren, Katee Barker and her husband Brandon of Toccoa, GA, David B. Cleveland and his wife Stephanie of Covington, GA, Daniel B. Cleveland of Clemson, and Andrew W. Cleveland of Moore; four great-grandchildren, Ana Barker, Evan Barker, Mary Kate Cleveland, and Mills Cleveland; and a brother, Joe W. Ballenger, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Inman. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, Spartanburg. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Barry Snead and the Rev. Norris Bishop. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Drayton Baptist Church, PO Box 357, Drayton, SC 29333.
