Ruth Brannon

Ruth Reynolds Brannon, 94, of 18 Valley Drive, Weaverville, NC, died Saturday, August 28, 2021 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center. A native of Spartanburg, SC, she was the widow of Boyce A. Brannon and the daughter of the late William Harley Reynolds and Myrtle Ezell Reynolds.

She was a member of First Baptist of Spartanburg where she served as the Director of the baby nursery department of the Sunday School for more than 25 years. She was retired from Wofford College as Assistant to the President for over 23 years.

In her later years, she helped raise her two oldest grandchildren. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Winthrop University in 2000 at the age of seventy-four. Ruth was known for her faith, her optimism, and the joy she took in caring for and pleasing others.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda B. Shamblin of Weaverville, NC, her grandson, Matthew Shamblin of Columbus, Indiana, her granddaughter Annabelle Shamblin of Hickory, NC, her great grandson Gabriel Villecco of Hickory, NC, her son, William C. Brannon, her daughter-in-law, Jill Brannon, and her grandson, Jake Brannon of Memphis, TN.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
