Ruth Berry

Kate Ruth Blackwell Berry, 86, of 180 Glenn Springs Road, Pacolet, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at her home. Born on March 3, 1926 in Pacolet, SC, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Evie Mahala Genoble Blackwell. She was a lifelong member of Pacolet United Methodist Church, was a former secretary at Pacolet High School and attended Converse College. She is survived by her husband, B. Rodgers "Rod" Berry, and would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on December 24, 2012. Also surviving is her son, Mike Berry and his wife Yvonne of Pacolet, SC; her grandson, and love of her life, Michael Berry and his wife Lauren of Charlotte, NC; special friends, Elaine and Joni Ware; and a special niece, Almeda Vaughn. Mrs. Berry was predeceased by her sister, Helen Sloan, and her brothers, Howard "Babe" Blackwell and William Blackwell. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, conducted by the Rev. John W. Ropp. Entombment will follow in Pacolet Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel. The family will be at the home, 180 Glenn Spring Road, Pacolet, SC 29372.
