Ruth Bennett

March 17, 1925 — November 9, 2017

Ruth Dunagin Bennett, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, passed peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at her home. Born March 17, 1925, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Dunagin Sr. and Eunice Dunagin and widow of Wallace Bennett. A member of Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church for over 70 years, Mrs. Bennett was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Belle Sprouse Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Spartanburg Junior College, attended Cecil's Business College, and retired from Duke Power after 32 years of service. Survivors include her children, Peggy Bennett Robinette (David) and Wally Bennett (Traci), all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Stephanie Norris (James) and Jennifer Bennett, all of Charleston, SC, Adam Bennett of Spartanburg, SC, and Steven Robinette (Lizzy) of Columbia, SC; and one great-grandson, R. J. Norris, expected in December. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Alvin Dunagin Jr. Visitation will be 2:30-3:45 PM Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church with funeral services following at 4:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Joe Blackwelder, the Rev. David Ervin, and the Rev. Traci Bennett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cannon's Camp Ground United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 3450 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
