Ruby Wood Davis, 83, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 4, 1927 in Spartanburg, she is the daughter of the late Walter T. and Ena Branton Wood. Mrs. Davis was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she was a former pianist and assistant organist for 15 years. She was also a former choir member and very active in all areas of her church. She formerly worked with Raycord Manufacturing for 15 years as a seamstress. Survivors include her husband Willard Earl Davis; three daughters, Brenda Ivey of Union, Yvonne (Larry) Poteat of Spartanburg, and Barbara Davis of Chesnee; a son, Gene (Libby) Davis of Chesnee; a sister, Evelyn Hawkins of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by six brothers and one sister; a grandson, Brad Hembree; and a great-grandson, Jack West. Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Fairview Baptist Church sanctuary, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ty Childers, the Rev. Dr. David Lancaster, and the Rev. Andy Case. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
