Ruby Shipman

Ruby Lee Pangle Shipman, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, August 06, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born April 6, 1928 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Lillie Mae Norton Pangle and wife of the late James George Shipman. Mrs. Shipman was retired from Phillips Fibers formerly Saxon Mills as a die inspector. She enjoyed walking every day with her friends Ella Ree Hadden and Christine Hines. Mrs. Shipman was a member of LifeSpring Church, formerly known as Park Hills First Church of God. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Smith of Moore, SC and Debra Harris (Al) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jason Wood (Brandy), Allison Harris and Ashley Harris; great-grandchildren, Jason "J.J." Wood Jr., Kobe Johnston and Jace Johnston; special niece, Margaret Potts who was like a daughter; another special niece Joann Estes; very special friend, Harold Smith; and numerous nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Nora Mae Hammett, Rose Simmons, and Thomas Pangle. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the Chapel by the Rev. Jeff Pangle and the Rev. Nathan Didway. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at their respective homes.
