Ruby Renn

Ruby Edith Morris Thomas Renn, 93, formerly of the Winston-Salem area, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Skylyn Place. Born January 31, 1918, in Eldora Township, Surry County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Julius Henry and Daisy Ella Wall. She was first married the late Newby Graham Thomas and was the widow of Charlie Renn. She was retired from Western Electric in Winston-Salem, NC, and was a member of the Consolidated Workers of America Union, a local garden club, and Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown, NC. Survivors include a son, Graham Julius Thomas and wife Carol of Lyman; brother, Julius Clay Morris of Crewe, VA; sisters, Sylvia Morris Jackson of Waxhaw, NC and Ila Mae Stewart of Blackstone, VA; grandchildren, James "Jamie" Thomas and wife "Libba" of Sulphur Springs, Daryle Thomas and wife Crista of Lyman, and Amy Landis and husband Jeffrey of Charlotte; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg and 2:00-2:45 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Walkertown, NC. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church, conducted by Steve Autrey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and suggests that memorials be made to Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, 2715 Darrow Road, P.O. Box 57, Walkertown, NC 27051. The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Graham and Carol Thomas, 206 Sagewood Court, Lyman, SC.
