Ruby Louise Owens, 92, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born August 1, 1918, in Cherokee Springs, she was the daughter of the late Edward Weldon and Ella Blackwell Owens. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Miss Owens was a legal secretary and court reporter for the State of South Carolina. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a member of Victory Sunday School Class. Her educational accomplishments include graduating from Fairforest High School and Robinson's Business College. Survivors include her nieces, Jane Brown (Wayne) of Spartanburg, Janet Williams (James "Red") of Chesnee, and Louise "Bunny" Bagwell of Mayo; grand-nephews, David Abernathy (Wanda) of Duncan, and Edward Bagwell (Christie) of Biscoe, NC; grand-nieces, Lori Robinson of Chesnee, and Melanee Burchfield (Brian) of Concord, NC; and step-nephew, Richard Gibson of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by brothers, Ernest, Albert, Virgil "Dick", and Harold "Bud" Owens. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2011, in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. James Nugent. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
