Ruby Mcgaha

Ruby Christine Phillips McGaha, 87, of Pacolet Mills, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born April 23, 1928, in Pacolet Mills, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Phillips and Carrie Crocker Phillips and widow of Harry O. McGaha. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. McGaha retired as Lab Technician at Pediatric Associates working for Doctors Johnson, Elmore, and Adams and also worked for Dr. "Pep" Coan. She was a graduate of Pacolet High School and the School of Laboratory Technology in Greenville, SC. A member and very active youth leader at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, she also served faithfully in her son's ministry at Hammett Grove Baptist Church by participating in the Senior Activities and Decorating Committee. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Pless-Kennedy (Don) of Pacolet, SC and Sue Teaster of Pacolet Mills, SC; grandchildren, David Pless (Crystal) of Shelby, NC, Carrie Wilson (Chris), Bethany McGaha, Will Teaster (Jessica), Carrie Christine Oxford (Chad), all of Pacolet, SC, and Jimmy Teaster Jr. (Anna) of Gaffney, SC; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Delaney, Brayden, Kara, Avery, Caleb, Brody, Harrison, and Grayson; and special niece Carolyn Hodge. In addition to her parents, husband, and seven brothers and sisters, she was predeceased by her son, Rev. Mike McGaha and daughter-in-law, Deborah McGaha. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2015, at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, 385 Stone St., Pacolet Mills, SC 29373. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, by the Rev. Norman L. Band.
