Ruby Johnson

Ruby Inez West Johnson, 69, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 29, 1943, in Spartanburg County, she was the widow of Robah A. Johnson and daughter of the late William Rufus "Ras" and Della Brewington West. Ruby loved animals of all types and was formerly employed with Mayfair Mill. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. She is survived by five sisters, Maggie Johnson, Fannie Johnson, Martha Johnson, Helen Johnson, and Brenda Shaver, all of Pauline, SC; and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Melvin West; and sister, Elsie Ivey. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 22, 2012, in Sulphur Springs Baptist Church cemetery, by the Rev. Jerry Ford. Visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, PO Box 247, Pauline, SC 29374. The family is at the home of a sister, Fannie Johnson, 109 Derrick Road, Pauline, SC 29374, in the Glenn Springs Community.
