Ruby Nell Rhodes Coffey, 88, of Roebuck, SC, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Spartanburg Rehabilitation Institute. Born June 21, 1933 in Kilgore, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jess Lester Rhodes and Annie Mell Rhoades Rhodes and the wife of the late Clarence Edward Coffey, Jr.
Ruby was retired from Spartanburg County. She was a member of Legacy at Beaver Hills Baptist Church, where she was a former kitchen hostess. She enjoyed cooking, growing tomatoes, and taking care of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Turner (Sam) of Roebuck, SC, her sons, Daniel Coffey (Rhonda) of Spartanburg, SC, Terry Coffey (Maggie) of Waynesboro, GA, and Joey Coffey (Allen) of Roebuck, SC; grandchildren, Rebekah Bradley (Jimmy), Samuel Turner IV, Tessi Benton (Matt), Philip Coffey (Jesse), and Daniel Coffey (Alex); six great grandchildren, Emma Bradley, Victoria Bradley, Sadie Turner, Samuel Turner V, Ensley Clemmons, Mathis Benton, Aida Nell Coffey, and Sullivan Ryan Coffey, along with Rachael Quinn, Dunnie Bibb, Jane Payne, Robin Kennedy, and Frances, her lifelong friends and many others.
Ruby was predeceased by brothers, Jess Rhodes and Robert Rhodes.
Visitation will be at 1:00 – 1:45 PM Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Funeral service will be 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Manning Strickland. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
