Ruby Cantrell

Ruby Robbins Cantrell, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, beloved wife of 54 years to the late Wylie W. Cantrell Sr., went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Ruby was born August 2, 1923, in the Cooley Springs community of Spartanburg, SC, to the late Sidney and Geneva Robbins. A graduate of Cooley Springs High School, she was Valedictorian of the Class of 1940. She attended Fairview Baptist Church in Spartanburg and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Ruby loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren, her poppies, and flowers. Surviving are her three daughters, Linda Rollins (Gerald) of Boiling Springs, SC, Jean Mitchem (Rick) of Tryon, NC, Debra Moore (James) of Chesnee, SC; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Sue Cantrell and Ann Cantrell. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Wayne Cantrell and Wylie Cantrell, Jr.; three brothers; and five sisters. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, March 6, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ty Childers. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers are Chris Rollins, David Rollins, James Moore, John Cantrell, Kenneth Cantrell, and Jason Lemmonds. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 1551 Bryant Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or a charity of one's choice. The family is at the home of Linda and Gerald Rollins.
