Ruby Mason Burrell

Ruby Mason Burrell, 95, of Spartanburg, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023, at her residence.  She was born on July 12, 1928, in Cooley Springs, SC, a daughter of the late Broadus and Hattie Padgett Mason.  She was married to the late LeRoy Burrell for 42 years. 

A member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church where she loved the ladies of the Joy Sunday School Class.  Ruby enjoyed traveling across the country with her family and friends.   

A graduate of Cooley Springs High School, Ruby was a longtime employee in the textile industry. 

Surviving are her sons, Roger A. Burrell (Joy S.) of Bogart, GA and Richard L. Burrell (Jackie M.) of Inman, SC; her four grandchildren, Belinda Snow (Dwain) of Athens, GA, Thomas Burrell (Megan) of Taylors, SC,  Mark Burrell (Kayla) of Inman, SC, and Claudia Burrell of Tampa, FL; her five great-grandchildren, McKayla, Kylaun, Hunter, Merey and Avram; her two great-great-grandchildren, Bear and Rory; a sister, Alber Smart of Spartanburg, SC; and a brother, Danny Mason of Spartanburg, SC. Ruby was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.  A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A memorial service to honor Ruby’s life will follow at 3:00 pm Sunday at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. 

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Jerry Kiehl, Keith Mason, Thomas Burrell, Mark Burrell, Jimmy Cockill and Kylaun Snow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303
