Roy Wood

Lee Roy Wood, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 12, 1923, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Arthur William and Effie Mae Hefner Wood. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Wood retired from Gaffney Manufacturing and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of over 68 years, Claire Ader Webb Wood; daughters, Emily W. Lane (Richard) of Taylors, SC and Deborah W. Greene of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren, Celeste Gwinn, Candace Davis, Russell Greene, Brandon Greene, and Carrie Moon; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six siblings. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 2:30 PM, conducted by The Rev. Mark Bishop and Chaplain Chad Bowen. Burial, with military rites, will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, 7400 Lone Oak Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
