Roy Layne Tracy, 84, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home. Born September 23, 1926, in Cheyenne, OK, he was the son of the late Daniel Waterson Tracy and Mamie Snowden Tracy Beringer. He was first married to the late Anita Brewton Tracy. Roy was retired as a right-of-way agent for Duke Power Company, a veteran of the U. S. Army, and a member of Boiling Springs Church of Christ where he was a former elder at both Central Church of Christ and Boiling Springs Church of Christ. Roy was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, beekeeper and a lover of the outdoors. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Welchel Tracy; a son, Howard Wayne Tracy and wife Vicki of Lubbock, TX; two daughters, Barbara Tracy Wheeler and husband Terry of Charlotte, NC, and Teresa Tracy Burton and husband Richard of Manchester, TN; a stepson, Dewey Edward Welchel of Spartanburg; and a daughter-in-law Karen Tracy of Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, David Hoyt Tracy. Visitation will be 2:00-3:45 PM Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by Mr. Charles Clark, Mr. David Pharr, and Mr. James Meadows. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
