Roy Padgett, 80, of 125 Green Street, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at his home. Born February 23, 1930 in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Corbett Monroe and Lizzie Belle Kirby Padgett. He was employed with Milliken and Company and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. An organizing member in 1957 of Pacolet Mills Volunteer Fire Department, he served for 53 years and was also a lifelong member of the Pacolet Mills Rescue Squad. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Louise Fowler Padgett; two daughters, Deloris Blackwell and husband Thomas of Gaffney and Shawn Shoemaker and husband Richard of Cowpens; a son, Darryl Padgett and wife Debbie of Pacolet; a sister, Catherine Brown of Pacolet; a brother, Dean Padgett of Pacolet Mills; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his # 1 special canine companion, "Tito". He was predeceased by a sister and four brothers. Visitation will be 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, July 16, 2010 at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Jett and the Rev. Harold Patton.
