Roy Matthews

Roy Lee "Buck" Matthews, 94, of Portland, OR, and lifelong resident of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Adventist Medical Center. Born January 1, 1919, in Clinton, SC, he was the son of the late Daniel B. and Mable Baker Matthews, and husband of the late Faye Henderson Matthews. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Matthews was the post commander of the VFW post in Spartanburg. He was a member of Northview Baptist Church and retired from Spartan Mills. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Eppley of Portland, OR; son, Jimmy Matthews of Inman, SC; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family is at their respective homes.
