Roy Jackson

Roy Edward Jackson, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at The Inverness of Spartanburg. Born August 9, 1922, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel Ichabod Jackson and Winifred Smith Jackson and husband of 75 years to the late Rachel Shull Jackson. Upon moving to Spartanburg, Mr. Jackson worked as a pipe fitter with Southern Shops and was the former owner/operator of Shook & Jackson Radio and TV as well as a retired security officer with Spartanburg County. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, a Mason and member of Hejaz Shrine Temple, and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his daughters, Betty Jackson Ray of Boiling Springs, SC, Ruth Anne Jackson Christopher (Kenneth) of Duncan, SC, and Kathy Jackson Crocker of Chesnee, SC; 7 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Helen Bedenbaugh of Greenville, SC; and brother, John L. Jackson of Columbia, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Rachel Jackson Cothran and Robert Donald "Donnie" Cothran; son-in-law, Woodrow Wilson Crocker; and siblings, Lawrence, Raymond, Ruth, Rachel, and Margie. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Monday, April 2, 2018, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by Chaplain Rick Millwood. Honorary escort will be the Patriot Guard Honor Team. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
