Roy Grant

Roy Edgar Grant, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Monday, June 27, 2016. Born in Devonshire England to the late Percy and Emily Yeoman Grant on March 30, 1925, he also lived in New Zealand before settling in Spartanburg, SC. Roy proudly served in the British Royal Air Force during World War II as a radio operator. Known for his great sense of humor and calligraphy skills, he retired after a long career in textiles as vice president of texturing at Butte Knit in Spartanburg. Survivors include his wife Adriana van den Broek Grant of the home; children, Cheryl Ogston (George) of Woodruff, SC, Jane Corn (Skip) of Pawley's Island, SC, Gillian Butts (Leighton) of Murrels Inlet, SC, Ingeborg Haddox (David) and Jean-Pierre Sarton (Yetza), all of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren, Caroline, Joey, Tim, Katy, Maya, Isaac, and Nicholas; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Christine Dunn (Pat) of England. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Grant; grandchildren, Jacob, Anthony, and Michael; and great-grandson, Brandon. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Y. McGehee. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
