Roy Dickson

Roy Edgar Dickson, 73, of Cowpens, SC, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at his home after an 18 year battle with cancer. Born March 22, 1941, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Paul Hilliard and Sarah Donald Dickson. Mr. Dickson was a seasoned administrator, educator, and coach. He retired from Boiling Springs High School in 1996. He also had served as Sunday School teacher and deacon at Cowpens First Baptist Church. Roy loved the Gamecocks as much as he hated the Tigers, and he relished a good argument. Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Kathy Horton Dickson; daughters, Alyson Dickson of Nashville, TN, and Lauren Dickson, of Charleston, SC; sisters, Helen Rogers and Joyce Cash (Bobby), and brother, Paul Dickson (Jane). Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:45 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with services following at 2:00 PM in the chapel conducted by Rev. Ralph Jett. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P. O.
