Roy Everett Cook, 95, of Pacolet, SC, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at his home. Roy was born in Cherokee County on August 30, 1926; a son of the late Harshall Smith and Edna Parker Cook. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Turner Cook.
Roy was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Cook and Harshall Cook; two sisters, Ara Cook Mathis and Christine Cook Tate.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy and Vickie, two grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Cook was a member of First Baptist Church Pacolet and a former member of Goucher Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC.
A US Army veteran during the Korean War, he was retired from Firestone Steel and Bridgestone Firestone. After retiring, Mr. Cook was employed with the Pacolet Post Office.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC, 29372, with the Rev. Tommy Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends at the service. Burial will follow in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Spartanburg Regional Hospice for the care given to Mr. Cook.
