Roy Whitfield Bryant, 89, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born July 17, 1927, in Galax, VA, he was the son of the late James Carl and Flora Duncan Bryant. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and graduate of the Industrial Institute of Electronics, Mr. Bryant was a member of Casey Creek Baptist Church and retired from Hassens Manufacturing. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Wilson Bryant; children, James Bryant (Cheryl) of Cowpens, SC, Kaye Allen (Kit) of Lexington, NC, Debbie George of New Port Richey, FL; son-in-law, Vance Oxendine of Clemmons, NC; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, JoAnne Oxendine. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Casey Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Casey Creek Baptist Church, by Dr. Jerry White, the Rev. Todd Lyda, and Mr. Matthew Bryant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Casey Creek Baptist Church, 1199 Casey Creek Rd., Chesnee, SC 29323; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
