Rowland Beem

December 10, 1932 — June 4, 2010

Rowland Eugene Beem, 77, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Smith-Phayer Hospice House in Landrum, SC. Born December 10, 1932, in Zion, IL, he was a son of the late Paul Franklin and Veatrice Verona Beem. He moved to Asheville, NC, in 1984 and to Spartanburg in 1987. Rowland was a member of the IL Jaycees and the Masonic Lodge No. 78 of Waukegan, IL. He was a retired business owner who enjoyed family, church, gardening, and spending time with his pets, Tara and Casper. He was a member of Northbrook Baptist Church of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to his wife, Wanda M. Beem of Spartanburg, survivors include a son, Randall E. Beem (Janet) of Newburgh, IN; two daughters, Sandra L. Wright of Raleigh, NC and Sheryl A. Pequeňo (Tommy) of Clinton, SC; four grandsons, Nathan C. Wright (Katie), Nicholas A. Wright (Jaime), Brandon L. Wright, and Tyler B. Wright; a sister, Velma L. Sandberg of Cedar Rapids, IA; a brother, Paul R. Beem (Laurel) of Wadsworth, IL; and four nieces and a nephew. Visitation will be 4:00-5:15 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Dickard. Interment will be a private family service at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northbrook Baptist Church of Boiling Springs Building Fund, 1881 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316 or to Smith Phayer Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
