Ronnie Ray Bentley

Ronnie Ray “Big Ronnie” Bentley passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born May 27, 1957 in Norton, VA to Shirley M. Bentley and the late Bill Junior Bentley. 

Big Ronnie was known by all as a good man; he was always willing to give to anyone who needed his help. He was a wonderful, loving father and grandfather to his many descendants, who will miss him deeply. One of the other great passions of his life was Dallas Cowboys Football. 

He is survived by many including his daughter, Candas Woolen (Matt) of Spartanburg, SC; sons, Little Ronnie Bentley (Jennifer) of Bluff City, TN, Todd Bentley (Rachel) of Kingsport, TN, Matthew Sproles (Kaitlyn) of Big Stone Gap, VA and Cody Sproles of Big Stone Gap, VA; grandchildren, Austin Rose, Aaliyah Rose, Hallie Abbey, Elizabeth Bentley, Jennifer Bentley, Skylar Bentley, Jacob Bentley, Jasmine Bentley, Breann Bentley, and Ronnie Bentley; great-grandchildren, Hunter Rose, Dustin Stiltner and Autumn Stiltner; and siblings, Ronald Bentley of Appalachia, VA, Suzanne Collier of Norton, VA and Debbie Taylor of Big Stone Gap, VA. Along with his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Donnie Bentley.

The family of Big Ronnie will be receiving friends from 9:30am – 10:30am on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. His graveside service will follow at 11:00am in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, conducted by The Rev. Mason Cantey.
