Ronald Davis

Ronald Overton Davis, 68, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Born July 15, 1946, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Estelle Dearybury Davis of Spartanburg, SC, and the late Jack Davis, Jr. Mr. Davis was a retired Color Lab Tech for Standard Products having 17 years of service. Prior to joining Standard Products, he was employed with M. Lowenstein and Milliken & Company for a number of years. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, he attended Wofford College, earned his Associate Degree from Gardner Webb College and his Bachelor Degree from Limestone. He was the inventor of "Conduct-o-Lite", a nationally sold product. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church, Columbia, SC, where he was also a choir member. After moving to Mooresville, NC, he was active in the choir at Williamson's Chapel Methodist Church. Ronald served in the SC National Guard and was an avid bicyclist, participating in a number of events in support of ALS. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his sister, Victoria "Vicki" Wilson. He assumed the role of one of Vicki's caregivers for several years. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David F. Ervin and the Rev. Jack A. Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolinas Neuromuscular Disease/ALS-MDA Center, 1010 Edgehill Road N, Charlotte, NC 28207; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or a charity of one's choice.
